Week 13 (2015) – Bowel Cancer!
By Robert Redfern
The headline subject this week is Bowel Cancer as April is the start of International Bowel Cancer Month. This is also the first week where I plan to add other articles to expand the choice –
eventually the goal is to have 4-5 subjects covering the widest range of interests. The extra topic this week is an eyesight article written by David Meyer. David has been with me for nearly
fifteen years and joined me when he retired after a career in the police. He had purchased a HealthPoint and after getting wonderful results with his family, he approached me to come and work with
me as soon as he retired.
As a Health Coach he has supported many people in the use of HealthPoint but his other passion has been supporting those wanting to reverse eyesight problems, such as Age Related Macular
Degeneration. Now ‘semi-retired’ again, to spend more time with his wife Zena, David is still coaching and supporting a limited number of clients with HealthPoint and improving their eyesight
conditions, along with writing regular articles about these topics.
This weeks main articles:
Bowel Cancer or Colorectal Cancer as it is technically known is the
third most common cancer in the world, with nearly 1.4 million new cases in 2012 and over half of those diagnosed will die within 5 years. The good news is that it is one of the most easily
preventable cancers and if caught early enough can be cleared with a dedicated plan.
Most people will experience an eye problem at some time in their lives
so it is important to recognise the symptoms and know what actions you can take to remedy the problem, or better still to prevent it in the first place. Macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading
cause of sight loss in the UK and USA.
In the UK, a study between 2007 and 2009 estimated there were 513,000 cases of AMD in people over 50, expected to rise to 679,000 by 2020, with 71,000 new cases each year.
Eat Cooked Egg with your Vegetables for an Extra Health Boost
Read this week in ‘What Doctors Don’t Tell You’…
Eating a cooked whole egg with your vegetables is about the healthiest
boost you can get, new research has discovered. The egg brings out all the nutritional goodness in the vegetables, especially if they are eaten raw.
The egg appears to release more of the vegetables’ carotenoids, antioxidants that are anti-cancer and vital for good health. And the more eggs you eat with your raw vegetables, the better the
carotenoid absorption, say researchers from Purdue University. People who ate three scrambled eggs with their vegetables absorbed nearly four times the amount of carotenoids from the vegetables
than someone who didn’t eat any eggs.
They tested three versions of a raw vegetable salad on a group of 16 young healthy volunteers, and some ate it with no eggs, some with one-and-a-half scrambled whole eggs and the rest with a
The carotenoids in the salad included beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, lycopene, lutein and zeaxanthin.
This is good for those with Macular Degeneration. Make kale one of the vegetables as this has the highest amount of essential lutein and zeaxanthin.
