Heart disease can be better prevented by taking Curcumin (turmeric) and significantly improve the functional states of the blood vessels of healthy adults, within two months according to recent research.
Fifty nine healthy adults were analysed within a randomised, controlled, double-blind parallel prospective study published in the Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism. The healthy adults were assigned a placebo (50mg) or (200mg) of Curcumin over an 8 week period. The study found that taking a daily dose of Curcumin significantly improved the functional state of the blood vessels within healthy adults, over a period of two months.
The study also provided background into the causes of cardiovascular disease and how the inner lining of the blood vessels (endothelium) had an inability to dilate fully as a consequence of the mainly symptomless damage that may have started in early life. It also concluded that in healthy adults, 8 weeks of supplementing with 200mg of oral curcumin resulted in a clinically meaningful improvement shown in endothelial function as shown by flow-mediated dilation (FMD).
The authors concluded that it therefore makes more sense to address and ameliorate the underlying causes of cardiovascular disease due to the arteries inability to dilate fully (endothelial dysfunction) rather than simply thinning the blood with Aspirin or Warfarin. This helps the blood to pass through narrower and increasingly clogged arterial space. It is this approach that has caused the underlying disease to continue forward, without any additional risks associated with using semi or synthetic drugs. The latter of which can create side effects that are usually deadlier than the condition they treat.
Curcumin is a natural approach to preventing cardiovascular disease without the use of aspirin or other drugs. Multiple studies have also indicated that Curcumin from turmeric extract can produce healthier blood vessel function while providing cardioprotective properties. All of this provides good evidence to support the idea that Curcumin is a healthy alternative to preventing cardiovascular and heart disease.

How do can I check if I have IBS. I have been diagnosed with gastro reflux but don’t really know how to keep that under control, except keep away from dairy, chocolate, coffee and alcohol. I have nee prescribed Omeprazole.
Hi Vicky, IBS is an umbrella terms generally given by medical practitioners when they do not know what the issue is with the digestive system, and one which can present differently to different people. Symptoms may range from constipation to diarrhea, and include bloating, reflux and so on. We cannot diagnose, but would recommend starting to support the digestive system with probiotics and digestive enzymes to help encourage a good balance of digestive secretions needed for digestion, as well as good bacteria to help support the delicate balance of microflora in the gut.
Take Prescript Assist, 2 capsules per day and Essential Digestive Plus, 1 capsule before each meal.
