Bowel Cancer or Colorectal Cancer as it is technically known is the third most common cancer in the world, with nearly 1.4 million new cases in 2012 and over half those diagnosed will die within 5 years. The good news is that it is one of the most easily preventable cancers and if caught early enough can be cleared with a dedicated plan.
Bowel Cancer is primarily a cancer of developed countries and there are a number causes including: Lack of walking/exercise, sitting down longer than 3 hours per day, missing minerals in the diet e.g. selenium, consuming meats and starchy carbs, BBQ foods, high sugar foods/drinks, alcohol, lack of vegetable fibre in the diet, chronic constipation, infections, inflammatory bowel diseases and lastly, daily aspirin. There are too many variables to blame any one thing but as you know, I blame starchy carbs and high sugar foods for most diseases – so healthy meats with vegetables may not be as bad as grain-fed or processed meats with starchy carbs such as pasta, rice or potatoes.
A contentious factor on Bowel Cancer is that aging is blamed because the death rate shoots up the older a person gets. I dispute this claim that it is aging. It is obvious that the above factors can be exacerbated in older people if they stop walking and the above causes mount up. This is further disproved as shown by the greater increase in younger people being diagnosed with Bowel Cancer.
Another cause can be by having polyps cut out rather than following the plan below first. It is possible to clear these naturally, which I strongly recommend as the first action.
Preventing Bowel Cancer
Walking is the Best Exercise and study after study proves it to be a preventative for most diseases. Other exercises are swimming, rebounding on a mini trampoline and knee to chest exercises for those who cannot walk.
Sitting down for more than 3 hours in total every day is to be avoided. Stand, walk or lay down instead.
Mineral Supplementation is critical as many of the trace minerals are disappearing from the foods chain as a result of soil depletion.
BBQ and Burnt Grilled Foods of any type are to be avoided as they are definitely carcinogenic and as bad as smoking cigarettes. They also age your body.
Sugary Foods and Drinks are to be avoided and again are as bad as smoking cigarettes for your health. They also age your body.
Alcohol and especially beer should be very limited, wine is better but limited to 1 or 2 glasses.
Vegetable Fibre is very healthy and keep increasing your intake to around ten portions per day. P.S. Potatoes are not vegetables.
Chronic Constipation is very serious and to avoid, bowels must be opened at least 2-3 times per day without laxatives. Walking and drinking 6 x 500ml (16oz) glasses of water will usually solve such problems.
Infections and inflammatory bowel diseases are to be solved urgently. These steps listed here plus taking a regular probiotic (friendly bacteria) will normally solve this. P.S. Drugs and antibiotics can be the causes and/or make them worse.
Daily Aspirin has been found in studies to increase the risk of Bowel Cancer and the benefit compared to Serrapeptase is very debatable.
Supplements to avoid Bowel Cancer. As well as a supplement containing the missing minerals, the outstanding preventative supplement is CurcuminX4000 or Serranol. Both contain curcumin, which has a great number of successful studies.
Possible Symptoms of Bowel Cancer
Once of the main reasons people die from Bowel Cancer is embarrassment at what may happen if consulting a doctor and they then leave the appointment too late. What you can do is purchase or obtain from your doctor a Bowel Cancer test screening kit, conduct the test in private at home and then have the results sent to your home. The next step is up to you.
You can have a test anytime or as soon as you get any symptoms such as:
- Repeated bleeding from your bottom or blood (black streaks) in your poo
- A recent abnormal change in your poo that continues for more than six weeks
- Watery poo on its own or with constipation
- Severe pain in your lower stomach that won’t go away, especially after eating
- You’ve recently lost weight without trying
- You feel tired all the time and you ‘look a bit pale’.
I am confident the plan in my book will clear Colorectal Cancer if caught early enough. I recommend it even if you decide to go the medical route as it is only helping to get you healthy.
Chemotherapy
A groundbreaking 14 year study was published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology in December 2004 called “The Contribution of Cytotoxic Chemotherapy to 5-year Survival in Adult Malignancies”. They studied 154,971 Americans and Australians with cancer, age 20 and older, that were treated with conventional treatments, including chemotherapy.
Only 3,306 had survival that could be credited to chemotherapy.
Study Results: “The overall contribution of curative and adjuvant cytotoxic chemotherapy to 5-year survival in adults was estimated to be 2.3% in Australia and 2.1 % in The USA”.
The fact that chemo only contributes on average about 2% to the overall survival rate is very alarming, and probably something your doctors didn’t tell you.
Prevention is Easier Then Cure
There is no doubt that it is easier to prevent bowel cancer than to treat it. It may be embarrassing, you will be distraught, your family and your doctors may confuse you and tell you to ignore anyone else other than the medics and worst of all, ignore the study above. This may be the worst time in your life to start making lifestyle changes and taking charge of your health. We do have Health Coaches on hand to help guide you through any lifestyle changes that you want to make. See www.MyGoodHealthClub.com
