Good eye health is vital for our general health, vitality and wellbeing in the long term. The eyes are a good indicator of our overall level of health and what’s going on inside the body. That’s why it’s important to look at the way we care for our eyes and how to prevent any problems such as health conditions and potential vision loss. Lowering the risk of vision loss doesn’t have to be challenging however, when you follow the advice below…
Wear UV Sunglasses and Contacts. By wearing protective eyewear when going out into the sun, it’s possible to protect your eyes and any UV radiation that your eyes are exposed to. Eyes that have been exposed to extended periods of UV radiation have been strongly linked to eye damage, this includes conditions such as macular degeneration, cataracts, pterygia and pingueculae.
Eat eye healthy nutrients. Eating plenty of dark leafy greens like broccoli, kale and spinach along with red peppers, carrots and sweet potatoes is a good idea to give your eyes much needed antioxidants that can ultimately help to prevent vision loss.
Exercise your eyes daily. Modern life has us constantly looking at computer screens and this is one of the most significant reasons for eye strain. Palming exercises that involve rubbing your hands together and placing them over the eyes can help with relaxation and induce a sense of calm. Massaging the eyes can increase blood flow to the area, while practicing exercises to strengthen the eye muscles with near and far vision can improve your focus in the long run. Zooming in with the eyes onto an object can also help the eyes to adjust better from certain distances. Moving the eyes in different directions is another good exercise, while practicing doing figure 8’s is a good way to control movement of the eyes.
Take eye enhancing supplements. The nutrients that the eye requires for best health is Lutein and Zeaxanthin, naturally occurring carotenoids which are yellow to red pigments that are naturally found in vegetables and other plants. These carotenoids are naturally found within high concentrations in the macula of the human eye, giving it a yellowish colour. They have important antioxidant properties within the body and these pigments can protect the body from the damaging effects of free radicals which are otherwise unstable molecules that can destroy cells, along with playing an integral role in many diseases. Along with providing important eye health benefits, lutein can also support and protect against the buildup of fatty deposits within the arteries (known as atherosclerosis), a disease that can lead to most heart attacks. By taking Lutein and Zeaxanthin regularly it’s believed that the macula’s underlying structures are protected and therefore the risk of light-induced oxidative damage is reduced and so is the risk of macular degeneration (AMD).
MaxiFocus™ contains both 10mg of Lutein and 2.5mg of Zeaxanthin, as part of a 24 nutrient sublingual liposomal formula. These carotenoids are powerful antioxidants, known to be missing from the eyes of health sufferers.
Taurine™ Spray contains the sulfur containing amino acid known as Taurine, high concentrations of which are found in the heart muscle, skeletal muscle, central nervous system and white blood cells. There are two binding proteins in the retina that are specific to Taurine and the intracellular connections in the retina are higher than any other region that’s derived from the central nervous system.
